This midweek parlay is just the ticket

What's better than hockey and hoops in the winter on a Wednesday? A winning parlay featuring the two sports, duh... and guess what? We've got the perfect parlay for you.

The Philadelphia Flyers are playing much better as of late, and even without Khris Middleton, the Milwaukee Bucks are still finding ways to win. But what if I said to you that you don't need either the Flyers or Bucks to win, and you could still get better than even odds in a parlay?

You'd probably tell me I'm crazy, but once you realized I'm not, you'd place the bet, right? That's what I thought.

Combine the Flyers (+2.5) at home against the Capitals and the Bucks (+3.5) against Atlanta in a parlay, and you get +110 odds via BetMGM.  Now that's a low-risk, high-reward parlay. And it's one you should place right away.

Philadelphia has won five of its last six games, and Washington is just 2-2 since the new year. The Flyers have a long way to go before getting into the playoff picture, but they're certainly headed in the right direction.

Philly has scored at least four goals in six of its last seven games, and goalie Samuel Ersson is coming off his first career shutout. Even if the Capitals pull out the win, it's highly unlikely it's by more than two goals. The Flyers have just two multi-goal defeats over the last month, and again, as long as they don't lose by more than three goals, this leg hits. Don't be surprised if the Flyers win either, but +2.5 goals via the alternate line spread is definitely worth including in a parlay.

As for the last leg of our parlay, take the Bucks +3.5 on the alternate line spread. Trae Young is certainly on a roll as of late for Atlanta — 29+ points in four of the last five games — but don't forget Milwaukee is one of the best defensive teams in the league. The Bucks are second in the NBA in opponents field-goal percentage, fifth in opponents three-point field-goal percentage, and have the best rebounding differential in the league.

Even without Middleton, the Bucks still have more size than the Hawks and should have no problem controlling the boards. Not to mention Giannis Antetokounmpo is averaging a career-high 31.6 points per game and maybe having the best year of his career. Don't be surprised if this is a one-possession game, and even if Milwaukee is on the losing side of it, they still cover via the alternate line of +3.5 points.

The Parlay: Philadelphia Flyers (+2.5) AND Milwaukee Bucks (+3.5) (+110 odds via BetMGM)

In the news ...

Correa flips again, re-signs with Twins — Carlos Correa signed a six-year, $200 million contract extension on Tuesday with the Minnesota Twins, pending a physical, after failing to come to an agreement with the San Francisco Giants and New York Mets earlier this offseason. Correa signed a 13-year, $350 million contract with San Francisco back on Dec. 13, but after the Giants raised concerns about the shortstop's surgically-repaired right leg, Correa flipped to the Mets. However, the Mets, who offered Correa a 12-year, $315 million contract weeks ago, also expressed concerns about Correa's right leg and were unable to officially sign the 28-year-old. The Twins are currently 7/2 to win the AL Central, 22/1 to win the AL pennant, and 50/1 to win the World Series.

Ravens make Smith highest-paid ILB in NFL history — Baltimore gave up a second- and fifth-round draft pick for Roquan Smith right before the NFL trade deadline back in November, and on Tuesday, the Ravens signed the Pro Bowl linebacker to a five-year, $100-million contract extension, making him the highest-paid inside linebacker in NFL history. Smith has recorded 100+ tackles in each of his first four seasons and has never started fewer than 12 games in a single season.

Georgia D-lineman Carter enters NFL Draft — Less than a day after winning a second straight national championship, Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter announced on Tuesday that he won't be returning for his senior season and has entered the 2023 NFL Draft. Carter was a 2022 unanimous All-American and is the top-rated player in the 2023 NFL Draft, according to multiple experts.

Stephanie McMahon resigns as co-CEO of WWE — Just days after Vince McMahon announced his return to the WWE, his daughter, Stephanie McMahon, announced on Tuesday she is stepping down as co-CEO. Vince McMahon had stepped down amid a sexual harassment scandal, but has returned to the company and is believed to be seeking a sale of the company.
