Aaron Rodgers isn't even on the New York Jets, yet, and general manager Joe Douglas and owner Woody Johnson are already trying to make him happy.
That's, of course, is not new news. Rodgers' former offensive coordinator, Nathaniel Hackett, is already with the team and New York signed his favorite wide receiver from last season, Allen Lazard, to an $11M a year contract he probably didn't deserve.
All in the name of Rodgers, who will need the Green Bay Packers to actually trade him to the Jets if he wants to play for them — which we know he does.
The Packers, per Rodgers, are reportedly digging in their heels compensation wise, though. It's also worth noting that they in no way have to trade the four-time MVP.
That's the backdrop of this latest report on free agent Odell Beckham Jr., who has seemingly been in the news just as much as Rodgers despite having not played since the first half of Super Bowl LVI.
Per Connor Hughes, who covers the Jets, New York is looking at OBJ with real interest:
Sources: #Jets interest in Odell Beckham Jr. described to me as “very real.”

He and Aaron Rodgers are close and have discussed playing together in New York. Basically, Rodgers wants OBJ.
With Elijah Moore gone .. opening is there.
As Hughes mentioned, the Jets just traded 22-year-old wide receiver Elijah Moore to the Cleveland Browns. Hypothetically in this situation, New York would be looking to replace Moore — a young receiver with plenty of potential — with a 30-year-old OBJ who has had two ACL tears on the same knee and hasn't played football in 14 months.
We know Beckham will never be the superstar he once was, but at this point, can he even be the player he was for the Rams in New York?
That's a massive risk, but so is trading for a soon-to-be 40-year-old quarterback who was apparently 90% on his way to retirement this offseason.
Anything for the chance of being relevant.
