NFL best bets: Week 2 'Beat the Line' moves

Welcome back to another edition of "Beat the Lines," where I'll give out a few NFL bets on Monday in hopes of creating closing line value (CLV) by kickoff. So, without further ado, here are the three games I already bet for Week 2.

Seattle Seahawks @ Detroit Lions

If you're unfamiliar with the NFL betting landscape, Week 2 is famously known as overreaction week. Teams that exceeded expectations in Week 1 get a boost in the market, while teams that underperformed get dinged. The key is to find Week 2 matchups between two teams on the opposite ends of that spectrum, and that's exactly what we have here.

The Lions didn't look dominant in Week 1, but a road win against the Kansas City Chiefs will always impress the betting public. As for the Seahawks, they stumbled out of the gate with a 30-13 dud against the Cooper Kupp-less Los Angeles Rams. Those two extremes have created a spread that's simply too high.

The Seahawks went to Detroit last season and put up 48 points in an upset win, and they should take some money as we get closer to kickoff.

The bet to make: Seahawks +5.5 (-110 DraftKings)

Las Vegas Raiders @ Buffalo Bills

This bet will depend on how the Bills look on Monday night against the New York Jets. If Buffalo takes care of business on the road, this spread will move at least one point overnight.

The Raiders knocked off the Denver Broncos in Week 1, 17-16, but that was more about the Broncos playing poorly than it was the Raiders playing well. Las Vegas managed just 261 yards of offense, and reigning rushing champion Josh Jacobs didn't have any room to run. He finished the game with 48 rushing yards on 19 carries. Jakobi Meyers led the team with nine catches, 81 yards and two touchdowns, but he may not play in Week 2 after suffering a scary head injury late in the fourth quarter.

The Bills are miles better than the Raiders, and I'd be surprised if this line closes in the single digits.

The bet to make: Bills -9 (-110 DK)

Cleveland Browns @ Pittsburgh Steelers

This is the golden example of overreacting to what we saw in Week 1. The Browns dominated the Cincinnati Bengals in the pouring rain, while the Steelers got demolished by a supremely talented San Francisco 49ers team on their home field. Now we get Pittsburgh as a home underdog against Cleveland in Week 2.

The Steelers couldn't have looked worse in Week 1, but the 49ers might just be the class of the NFL from a talent perspective. T.J. Watt was still a force with three sacks and two forced fumbles, and Kenny Pickett should enjoy a bounce-back performance against a worse defense.

Pittsburgh is 3-1 in its last four games against Cleveland, and I trust Mike Tomlin to get his team right after an embarrassing start to the season. The Steelers should close as favorites in this game.

The bet to make: Steelers +2 (-110 DraftKings)
