Randy Moss has a solid ‘2-word’ reaction to Austin Rivers undermining NFL stars when compared to NBA players
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Austin Rivers’ blind confidence in NBA players might have cost him respect among the athletes. The former Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard is all over the news lately, over his unconventional comparison between NBA and NFL players– the two biggest sports of the U.S.

For better context, in a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee show, Rivers– who himself failed to accomplish much individual success in his career, claimed that he could take 30 NBA players and straight away put them in the NFL reflecting their versatility, but there aren’t 30 NFL players who can be put in NBA.

As expected, the NFL stars didn’t like such disrespect, given the immense versatility of the sport and its popularity across the country. One such star is Randy Moss, who gave a subtle yet loud two-word reaction to Rivers’ bizarre claim, on X.

WOW really? Randy Moss on X

Interestingly, he wasn’t the only one to express displeasure publicly. NFL stars such as JJ Watt and Tyrann Mathieu were also among those who called out Rivers for his unfounded comparison while asserting they as well can build a name for themselves in the National Basketball Association.

NBA and NFL athletes struggle with the superiority question

Rivers’ words might be blunt, but he isn’t the first person instigating the NBA-NFL superior debate. There is a long-standing debate on the superiority between the two sports. Many NBA players have previously claimed they can play in the NFL.

One of the most famous tales in this remains when Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James revealed his connection with football, as he used to play at the tight end position in his high school. He even revealed Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones even offered him the tight end position back in 2011, but he swiftly denied it.

Apart from him, Anthony Edwards has also expressed his desire to master both the sports, basketball and football, in 2023. His high confidence and gifted physique have made many believe he can build a name for himself in the NFL.

On the other side, prominent NFL players such as Micah Parsons, CJ Stroud, and Myles Garrett have proved that they are more than capable of playing basketball at the high school level, and if they invest more time in that sport, they can play in the NBA as well.
