Michigan Resort, The Highlands, Holding Chair-ity Auction Featuring One of Its Original Lifts

The Highlands, formerly known as Boyne Highlands, sits atop Michigan's mitten just 15 minutes north of Petosky. Since 1963, the resort has been a favorite in The Great Lakes State, with 435 acres of trails, and in recent years, four terrain parks and an advanced snowmaking system.

The hallmark of the resort is its community feel. So it makes sense that when The Highlands decided to install a new triple chair on its North Peak, it would give back to the Northern Michigan community.

The new triple chair will replace one of the resort's original lifts, the Interconnect. From The Highlands' website:

"The Interconnect lift, which was originally named Little John and ran up between North and South Challenger, was relocated as part of the North Peak expansion during the early 1990s. Interconnect was one of the original chairlifts that has been operational since the resort's opening in 1963."

Rather than just replacing the lift, The Highlands is doing something a lot more meaningful. Right now, the resort is holding Chairs for Chair-ity, an auction of the chairs from the Interconnect lift, with the proceeds going toward local community organizations, Little Traverse Bay Humane Society, Harbor Springs Area Historical Society, Snow Angel Foundation Inc, and Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation.
